  1. Jazākallāhu khayran. You never cease to be so originally insightful.

However, I don’t remember you elaborated on the particularities of how the Quran is sufficient for us in reasoning with modern-day atheists, as you said in the first or second session. This issue especially niggles me, because, to be honest, when I read the Quran, I do find some credence in Cristopher Hitchen’s remark that most scriptures are often temporally and spatially local. For instance, if I have not mistaken your point, which ayah could you draw your philosophical argument for the fitra from?

    • Asalaamualaykum brother,

I actually didn’t get into detail about the Qur’anic miracle — which was unfortunate and I will try to discuss more in another lecture or private video in the future, insh’Allah.

As for the fitrah, we can take that from the hadith and the ayah from the Qur’an (41:53):

“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?”

The Qur’an mentions the fitrah directly in the following ayah (7:172):

And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam – from their loins – their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes, we have testified.” [This] – lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, “Indeed, we were of this unaware.”

      • You misunderstood me. I definitely already know that the fitrah is an Islamic concept well rooted in the Quran and Sunnah. My inquiry, in view of your assertion that the Quran is sufficient for us in arguing with non-Muslims, was how did it help you when you formulated that argument for the fitrah with all its convoluted premises and conclusions?

  2. assalamu alaikum
